Kara Kelber joined Consumers Reports’ Washington, D.C. office in 2011. She facilitates CR’s strategic communications efforts on a wide range of consumer issues including healthcare reform, technology and privacy, financial services, product safety and food safety.
Kara’s experience is built across the political, legislative, and private sectors. Prior to joining CR, she served as Communications Director and Press Secretary for former U.S. Representative Harry Teague (NM-2). In those roles she oversaw the communications strategy in collaboration with the political and legislative agenda and implemented an active press office and social media presence. Before her work on Capitol Hill, Kara worked at public relations firms representing a variety of clients ranging from Fortune 500 lifestyle companies, to consumer start ups, trade groups and community organizations.
Kara earned a B.S. in Communications and Political Science from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. A Washington area native, she returned to the district to earn her Master’s in Political Management at The George Washington University.
