Testimony Before Senate Appropriations Subcommittee Re: Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)

The CPSC is charged with the mandate to reduce or eliminate unreasonable risks of injury and death to consumers from more than 15,000 types of products. The CPSC’s viability is of critical importance to the safety of children, because the Commission has jurisdiction over so many children’s toys, clothing and products like baby walkers, high chairs, and cribs. Unfortunately, the system in place to protect consumers – especially children – from unsafe products has broken down.
