CR submits comments opposing DOE proposal to withdraw 17 appliance efficiency standards

Consumer Reports (CR) submitted comment letters in opposition to the Department of Energy’s proposal to withdraw 17 critical appliance efficiency standards.

These standards have saved American consumers over $100 billion on their energy bills in 2024 alone, with a typical household savings of over $500 last year. Further, efficiency standards implemented from 2021 – 2024 would together reduce utility bills by over $1 trillion over 30 years and save the average family at least $100 a year through lower utility bills.
