In a comment letter sent to the USDA, Consumer Reports called on the agency to reverse its decision to delay implementation of its rule declaring Salmonella an adulterant in not-ready-to-eat (NRTE) breaded stuffed chicken products and to adopt the same standard for all processed chicken and turkey products. CR’s letter urges the USDA to adopt product standards for highly virulent serotypes and higher loads of Salmonella if it decides not to declare Salmonella an adulterant in other poultry products.
