Consumer Reports letter to USDA urging it to take stronger action to protect the public from salmonella in poultry

In a comment letter sent to the USDA, Consumer Reports called on the agency to reverse its decision to delay implementation of its rule declaring Salmonella an adulterant in not-ready-to-eat (NRTE) breaded stuffed chicken products and to adopt the same standard for other poultry products. CR’s letter urges the USDA to adopt product standards for highly virulent serotypes and higher loads of Salmonella if it decides not to declare Salmonella an adulterant in all poultry products.
