This document applies to nonprofit acute care hospitals throughout the Commonwealth (hereinafter referred to as “hospitals”), defined by Chapter 118G of the Massachusetts General Laws as the teaching hospital of the University of Massachusetts Medical School and any hospital licensed under Section 51 of Chapter 111 that contains a majority of medical, surgical, pediatric, obstetrics and maternity beds as defined by the Department of Public Health.
