In this letter to the Senate HELP Committee, the Safe Patient Project applaud’s the Committee’s diligent work to ensure that current clinical approval standards are maintained and that the pathway remains limited to antibacterials. We also support the inclusion in the bill of antibiotic resistance monitoring at Federal facilities, reporting on antibiotic resistance and use, and additional support for antibiotic stewardship. The Safe Patient Project believes that strong and transparent reporting requirements are a key step in combatting antibiotic resistance, and that this information should be publicly available.
