A number of important child safety issues were addressed in the Safe, Accountable, Flexible and Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU) (2005). However, further legislation is needed to correct three specific problems that continue to cause tragic deaths and injuries to children: backover deaths, power window safety and vehicle roll-away.
