Consumers Union supports the Draft Federal Health IT Strategic Plan 2015-2020, drafted by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC). However, we also identify deficiencies. Most notably, we urge ONC to elevate consumers as partners in the delivery of healthcare, to maintain a strong governmental leadership role rather than delegate too much to commercial interests, and to strengthen the provisions on health data security and patient privacy.
