Consumer Reports filed formal comments with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), along with 24,700 consumer petition signatures, in response to the agency’s proposal to amend the corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) standards set in 2020 for passenger cars and light trucks manufactured in model years 2024-2026. CR is calling on NHTSA to adopt even stronger CAFE standards than those included in the agency’s current proposal.
