Washington Governor Christine Gregoire signed into law a bill requiring hospitals in the state to report rates for certain patient infections. Washington is now the 15th state to require disclosure of hospital infection rates.
Meanwhile, the Texas House passed a hospital infection reporting bill similar to one already approved by the Senate. The House-adopted version of the bill must return to the Senate for a concurrence vote before it is sent to Governor Rick Perry for his consideration.
