ON BEHALF OF
THE CAMPAIGN FOR CHILDREN’S HEALTHCARE
July 11, 2006
Consumers Union, the independent, non-profit publisher of Consumer Reports strongly supports the Campaign for health insurance for all American children.
“The expiration of the S-CHIP program gives us a golden opportunity to enact a permanent program guaranteeing that no American child will ever be without healthcare insurance,” said Bill Vaughan, a Consumers Union Senior Policy Analyst. “Healthcare costs are the number one consumer issue, and caring for one’s children is every parent’s first concern. We call on Congress to combine these two key issues and enact an effective safety net law that guarantees that no parent will ever again have to worry about paying for healthcare for their child.”
“We hope that this children’s health campaign will be the beginning of a comprehensive solution to the health insurance problems and costs facing both children and adults,” said Vaughan.
