Consumers Union Applauds House Passage of Healthcare Bill

Washington, D.C.—The U.S. House of Representatives today passed healthcare legislation, which will now move the U.S. Senate for a floor vote. Consumers Union President and CEO Jim Guest issued the following statement:
“Consumers Union applauds the House of Representatives for its historic action today to address the vital healthcare needs of American consumers. While the new reforms won’t solve all the problems in our nation’s broken health-care system, they will go a long way toward achieving the goal of affordable, reliable healthcare for all Americans. We urge the U.S. Senate to act quickly to approve the companion measure so that it, too, can be signed into law.”
The nonpartisan Consumer Union, the nonprofit publisher of Consumer Reports, has advocated for reforming America’s health system since the organization was founded in 1936.
