States with security freeze laws

25 states have passed security freeze legislation: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont and Wisconsin provide all its residents with the option of placing a security freeze on their credit files, while Hawaii, Kansas, South Dakota, Texas and Washington currently provide this option only to ID theft victims.
