Safe Food Coalition letter to FDA opposing the proposed delay of the Food Traceability Rule

Consumer Reports joined with the Safe Food Coalition to oppose the FDA’s proposed two-and-a-half year delay of the Food Traceability Final Rule. The coalition’s letter urges the FDA to implement the rule’s recordkeeping requirements by a date closer to the previously announced January 20, 2026 compliance date. That compliance date provides ample time for industry to prepare, and represents an already overdue enactment of the Food Safety Modernization Act, which Congress passed with broad bipartisan support and President Obama signed into law in January 2011.
