A number of states have established low carbon fuel standards (LCFS) to decrease the carbon intensity of transportation fuels and provide an increasing range of low carbon fuel alternatives to power our cars, trucks, and other vehicles.
Some of these states are considering updates for their standards, while officials in other states and the federal government are considering standards of their own.
Consumer Reports has prepared this LCFS factsheet for policymakers. It provides information and considerations for policies to help reduce carbon emissions from transportation and provide consumers with more options for low carbon fuels.
