CU letter to Senate on unauthorized “cramming”

We recognize that some wireless carriers recently voluntarily agreed to stop charging for  premium text messaging services such as horoscopes and ringtones, but the stories we have heard from consumers suggest that it continues to be far too easy for consumers to  be charged for services that they do not authorize and do not want. There are many other causes of unauthorized charges, and we are concerned that the practice will only continue as carrier billing technologies continue to evolve.
