CU Comments on the carcinogenic potential of glyphosate

SUMMARY: Consumers Union (CU), the policy and advocacy arm of Consumer Reports, comments to the Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP) on the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), specifically on the carcinogenic potential of glyphosate. CU urges the SAP to tell US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that their present assessment of the carcinogenic potential of glyphosate is inadequate and needs to be redone. We feel that if this reassessment is done properly, the EPA would make a conclusion similar to that made by the World Health Organization’s International Agency for the Research on Cancer (IARC), i.e., that glyphosate is a probable human carcinogen.
