Consumer Reports experts developed ratings for 35 fruits and vegetables to help consumers identify which produce items pose the biggest risk from pesticides. While organic is the best option, over half of the nonorganic fruits and vegetables evaluated by CR pose little risk, and 20 percent of the products, such as fresh green beans, peaches, and potatoes, received the worst scores. Consumer Reports supports the ban of the riskiest pesticides for agricultural use and a number of other reforms policymakers should enact to protect consumers.
