Consumer Reports sent letters to Chairman Rep. Joe Fitzgibbon and the members of the House Environment & Energy Committee in Washington state in support of SB 5811/HB 1999 on February 12th, 2020.
Consumer Reports urges passage of this bill, which would open the door for Washington to explore adoption of a Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) program. Currently, Washington state law prohibits the adoption of ZEV, making it more difficult for consumers to find an electric vehicle to purchase at their local dealerships.
This week, the House Environment and Energy Committee approved the measure, sending the bill to the House appropriations committee. The state Senate has already passed the measure.
