Consumer Reports, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and the National Consumers League sent this letter to Congress in order to voice our support for full implementation of DNS over HTTPS (DoH). This letter is responds to a recent letter sent by major internet service providers (ISPs) indicating concerns with the adoption of DoH and misstating some core principles involving the encryption technology. DoH represents a major advancement in privacy technology that not only means more privacy for internet users at home, but globally it will interfere with authoritarian governments’ abilities to censor internet activity through the DNS system.
