Comments on the USDA’s proposal to require labeling of beef products that have been needle-or blade-tenderized

Consumers Union welcomed the opportunity to comment on the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Safety Inspection Service’s (FSIS) decision to require that “mechanically tenderized” beef products be labeled as “mechanically tenderized,” and to require that the labels include validated cooking instructions regarding cooking to a specified minimum internal temperature, and regarding holding these products for a specified time after cooking and before eating.
