Comments on Student Assistance General Provisions, Federal Family Education Loan Program, and William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program

Consumers Union submitted this set of comments to the US Department of Education comment in response to the Department’s notice of proposed rulemaking to expand access to affordable repayment plans for Direct Loan borrowers, among other things. Consumers Union supports the proposed rule, and in this letter offers additional suggestions for next steps that the Department should take to ensure that every person with a federal education loan can successfully manage their loans while in repayment.
