DESCRIPTION: As follow-up to our testimony before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Competition Policy, Antitrust, and Consumer Rights, at its March 11 hearing on antitrust reform, we were sent questions for the record. We re-emphasized the central importance of a marketplace that gives consumers the leverage of choice so sellers will be motivated to pay attention to consumers’ wants and needs and make their products and services better and more affordable. And we re-emphasized the importance of choice at all levels in the supply and marketing chain, including for the workers who power the companies who create the choices for consumers. And we stressed the importance of a proper balance between intellectual property law and antitrust law so that intellectual property rights are protected consistent with protecting competition and consumer choice.
