Court throws out Verizon’s net neutrality challenge: Statement by Consumers Union

WASHINGTON — A D.C. appeals court today dismissed Verizon’s challenge to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)’s rules for net neutrality, saying the lawsuits were filed too soon, before the FCC’s order was published in the Federal Register.
Parul P. Desai, policy counsel for Consumers Union, said, “Verizon overstepped, and the court did the right thing. For supporters of net neutrality, it’s an encouraging sign that the case is going to be handled appropriately. We need neutrality rules, because consumers ought to be able to surf the Web without their Internet service limiting choices to its preferred sites.”
