Omar Hakim is a grassroots organizer working with the money and privacy teams.
Prior to joining CR in 2016, Omar was the national coordinator for Cities for Action, a coalition of mayors and municipal leaders advocating for immigration and refugee-related reforms at the federal and local level. Previously, he was a community organizer with the LGBT Center in New York City and with Public Allies, developing models for asset-based leadership in order to best support impacted individuals to take action. With a decade of prior experience in the film industry, he is a trained filmmaker who is attuned to the power of storytelling to build awareness and to galvanize change.
Omar graduated from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) with a BFA in Film & Television, and also earned a Master of Social Work degree from Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College (City University of New York).
