Maureen Mahoney is a Policy Analyst in Consumers Reports’ San Francisco office. Her areas of focus include state data privacy, security, and data breach notification legislation, state right to repair legislation, and robocalls policy. In 2018, she testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Digital Commerce and Consumer Protection Subcommittee Hearing, “Do Not Call: Combating Robocalls and Caller ID Spoofing.” At Consumer Reports, she has authored two policy briefs: “Dialing Back: How Phone Companies Can End Unwanted Robocalls,” and “Errors and Gotchas: How Credit Report Errors and Unreliable Credit Scores Hurt Consumers,” and co-authored CR’s Right to Repair Model State Law. She received an M.A. and Ph.D. in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed her undergraduate work at the University of Chicago.
