An accomplished leader and development strategist, Geoffrey MacDougall joined Consumer Reports in 2015. In his role as VP, Social Impact Partnerships, he works to design strategies, build partnerships, and secure the resources needed to grow the scale and impact of the consumer movement.
Geoffrey previously served as CR’s Director, Mobilization, where he led the organization’s campaigns and grassroots advocacy team, helping consumers to control and shape markets. He was also responsible for building CR’s first program to address privacy, security, and data issues, including the launch of The Digital Standard, a CR-led project to help set expectations for how manufacturers should handle privacy, security, and other digital rights.
Geoffrey brings more than two decades of experience in fundraising and development strategies and has raised more than $50M in public, private, and philanthropic funding for startups, nonprofits, and established companies.
Prior to joining CR, he served as Vice President, Engagement, for the Mozilla Foundation, where he helped to lead the design and development of Mozilla’s first true fundraising, policy and advocacy, and learning programs. Prior to that he served as Senior Vice President of Government Relations for Goderich Aircraft, where he secured the funding to launch Canada’s first Boeing Completion Centre, and held leadership positions at the Information Technology Association of Canada, Veil Entertainment, and the United Nations World Summit of Young Entrepreneurs.
Geoffrey attended York University in Toronto and left once he secured investment for his first startup. He completed the Exponential Fundraising program at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government in Cambridge, Mass.
